This piece is the cover to my upcoming second piece of Mindfang fanfic, "Condemnation". Picking up a few months (lunar perigees, if you prefer) after where the events of "Beautiful Jewel" left off, this tale covers the meeting between Marquise Spinneret Mindfang and the Legislacerator dispatched to bring her to justice, Neophyte Redglare. Other characters that play a role in this story include Doc Scratch and his Handmaid, Damara Megido, as well as the former E%ecutor (now E%patri8), Darkleer (or Horuss Zahhak). Another character the I've introduced is an original, Felida Oceleo, who I've written as Mindfang's oliveblood First Mate (or second-in-command of her Gamblignant fleet). She has obviously had an accident of some kind based on her cybernetic limbs; you'll have to read the story once I release it to find out how it happened...
Lynnai wanted to amp up the realism in the faces even more so than last time, and I think this was a heck of a job. Redglare's expression fits the idea of blackrom beautifully, while trying to get smaller figures (these characters in the front row are physically about 5-6" each) to look as real as possible as well. We are thrilled to feature the one and only as the body model for Damara! I hope she feels we were able to do her justice! The "majyyks" on her wand were created with gelpens but the rest of the picture is, as always, coloured pencils. It was a challenge getting Darkleer's black "Tron" suit to look like a suit! The wood, like that on "Duo Deae" was created by laying down white pencil crayon to make the weaves and knots, and then colouring over it with browns to create the weathered effect.
This piece took about 40 hours of work over the last month. We sure hope you enjoy it!

Ha, another wonderful piece of art! Everytime I see the WIPs and I think "ok, I'mpreparing myself to see something awesome", and one way or another, it always end up looking much better than what I imagined it'd look like! I don't know how you do that. The amount of details on this one is really impressive, the wood effect looksas awesome as in "Duo Deae", maybe even more, since we see it from a closer point of view. And I don't know how much time it took for the hair but the result is breathtaking! So are all the details of the faces, the hands, the jewelry, the horns... Waw. Redglare's face, especially, looks very nice! Her expression is perfect. I could go on and on about how it's an awesome work for hours, but homework awaits... so I'll leave it to: bravo! I hope you both had a nice Christmas, and wish you a happy new year since it's tomorow! ^w^
Le père Noël a été super cette anéée! I got a lot of cool stuffs, annnnnd chocolate! Which is, obviously, the best gift ever.
Well, it's rare enough to see Redglare without her glasses! And her expression is even greater, when you see the way it works with Mindfang's. And yes, I always wondered about why they kept putting white pencils in pencil boxes... now I know!
Ah, thank you! I have some art I'll be able to post soon (drawings I made as christmas gifts, mainly) and after that, nothing new until january the 10th. That's the day I'll take my last exam. Vivement que les cours reprennent, pour que je me repose!
Alsooo... bonne annééééée! I wish you and Lynnai an awesome 2013 year!!!
Oh my godness! you finished aaaaah! this looks so beautiful <3 your lines and style and color ! just amazing! this is better than i expected! good job!
Her lips certainly are a focal point, aren't they? She wanted to add just the barest hint of teal to suggest a lipstick that had been washed away, but I'm not sure the scanner caught it. Even the best scanners seem to lose about 10% of the quality when traditional art is involved. Those lips, to my eye, are scary-realistic! And, yes, she sunk a lot of time into Damara's dress (I believe the words she said when she started it were "I can't believe I'm doing this, but..."). As an experienced artist yourself, you can appreciate the work that goes into those little details (check out the shadow the loose piece of hair on Redglare's forehead creates). Thanks so much for taking the time to comment; it really makes her day! ^u^

Yeah, Redglare's expression seems to be the focal point of this one, doesn't it? The hair took about forever, or so Lynnai would say!
The wood is pretty nice, eh? I'm still amazed how it turned out! Who knew that the white pencil crayon was so useful?
Thanks again, my dear, and good luck with your homework! Hope to see more art from you when you're done!
